This track has recently reopened after the 2018/19 bushfires and Cate & I had a window of opportunity to check it out in February during our endless summer. We found a new track up to the Eliza Plateau, toilets at Shelf Camp and Lonely Tarns, tent platforms at the latter and a boardwalk into Lake Judd. Otherwise it was the same spectacular walk.
The most challenging section of the walk is from Shelf Camp to Lonely Tarns, which includes the Notch, shown in the photo above. Normally I would bring a rope to packhaul through this section but this time I had forgotten. So I was lucky to come across another couple who had a rope which they kindly loaned us.
Shelf camp would have to one of most beautiful campsites in Tasmania (next 6 photos).

View from the Lonely Tarns looking back at Lightning Ridge and Mt Lot (previous and next).
We were lucky enough to get a lift back to our car at the end saving us a 9km road trudge, and making for a good ending to a great trip.
